35-year-old content creator Jennifer Allan turned to ChatGPT to tackle her growing credit card debt—and ended up paying off over $12,000 (approximately Rs. 10 lakhs) in just one month.

Determined to regain control, Allan created a personal 30-day challenge: use ChatGPT daily to help reduce her debt. The idea was simple—ask the AI for one small, actionable task every day that could either save or earn her money. Newsweek reports that ChatGPT helped her with daily saving tips, budgeting prompts, offered a pantry-only food plan, cancel unnecessary subscriptions, selling unused items, and build a debt tracker, and even find $10,000 (over Rs. 8.3 lakhs) in lost accounts.

ChatGPT’s meal plan using only pantry staples helped her cut grocery expenses by nearly $600 (approximately Rs. 50,000) in a month.

At the end of the 30-day challenge, Allan had paid off $12,078.93. She shared her experience on TikTok (@_jenn.allan), where many viewers responded with support—and said they were inspired to try something similar.

“It wasn’t some big financial hack,” she told Newsweek. “It was the act of facing it every day—of tracking it, talking about it, looking at it every day. I stopped being afraid of my numbers.”

After the birth of her daughter and a difficult postpartum period, Allan relied on credit cards just to get by, the report says. “We weren’t living lavishly. We were just surviving. But the debt piled up while I wasn’t looking,” she said.

She credited ChatGPT for giving her structure without judgment, and a reason to keep going. “You don’t have to know all the answers—you just have to stop pretending it’s not happening.”
