Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali has criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for alleged favouritism in player treatment. Ali questioned why injured batter Saim Ayub was sent to London for rehabilitation while other injured players, including himself in the past, did not receive the same medical care.

Expressing his frustration on the Ultra Edge podcast, Hasan said, “Saim Ayub is injured, and he is part of the team. Wasn’t I also a team member in 2020? If another player gets injured, won’t he be part of the team? Does he play for India?”

Ayub suffered a right ankle fracture during Pakistan’s tour of South Africa and was ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy. He is currently recovering in London.

Hasan also questioned if PCB would provide the same special treatment to Ayub in the future if he got injured again. He added, “Right now, they are giving him VVIP treatment, but will they do the same next time? No, they won’t.” Despite his criticism, Hasan wished Ayub a speedy recovery and hoped he would play an important role in Pakistan’s success.

About Saim Ayub's injury

Saim Ayub suffered an unfortunate ankle injury during the second Test against South Africa in Cape Town. The incident happened while chasing a ball headed towards the deep third boundary alongside Aamer Jamal.

Jamal pulled the ball back in and Ayub stood there to be as the relay fielder. However, the youngster lost his balance and twisted his ankle. He went down in immense pain holding the lower part of his leg as the team physio rushed to the spot to attend him.

He had to be stretchered off the ground after prolonged treatment. Later, it was found that he had injured his right ankle. Ayub who was in contention for the Champions Trophy, was ruled out later as his recovery needed more time.
