Novak Djokovic remained prudent about discussing his future with Andy Murray after withdrawing from the Australian Open 2025 semifinal match against Alexander Zverev due to an injury. Djokovic lost the first setby 7-6 before deciding to stop due to muscle injury, allowing Zverev to advance to his first Australian Open final and third Grand Slam final overall.

In the post-match press conference, Djokovic expressed disappointment and sadness over the situation. When asked about his future partnership with coach Andy Murray, who he roped in 2024, Djokovic said, “I don’t know. We’re both disappointed with what happened, so we haven’t discussed future steps yet. We need time to cool off before deciding.”

He added, "I feel more and more connected with Andy every day. We face challenges every single day. People don’t see that, obviously. I mean, we try to make the most out of every day and grow together. He’s been as committed to my career and this tournament as he can be."

Earlier reports stated that Djokovic had sustained an injury in his left upper thigh during the quarter-final match against Carlos Alacaraz, he also took a medical timeout during the match. However, he continued to play and won the match by 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 to qualify for the semi-finals for the Australian Open 2025.

Djokovic also shared that the muscle tear injury was more difficult to manage this time compared to 2023. He won the Australian Open despite playing with a 3 cm tear and defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas to claim his 10th title.
