US President Donald Trump, currently serving his second term, has proposed an unusual and bold idea to celebrate America’s 250th Independence Day in 2026 by hosting a UFC championship fight on the White House lawn.
Speaking at a rally in Iowa on July 3, President Trump said the fight could have an audience of 20000 to 25000 people. This event would be part of a year-long celebration called “America 250”, which marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

“We’re going to have a UFC fight, think of this, on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there. We are going to build a little, well we’re not, Dana is going to do it. We’re going to have a UFC championship fight, a full event, with around 20 to 25000 people. We’re going to do that as part of the 250th celebrations,” said Trump.
Trump is known to be a long-time fan of the UFC and shares a close friendship with UFC President Dana White. He has often attended UFC matches in person, and his press secretary confirmed that the President is “very serious” about making this White House fight happen.
If the UFC event goes forward, it would be the first-ever professional sports fight held on White House grounds. While details such as permits, security, and logistics are still being discussed, the idea reflects President Trump’s love for spectacle and his aim to engage young Americans in a big way.
