Team India's men's team's chief selector Ajit Agarkar has made a massive revelation on Virat Kohli following the latter's sudden Test retirement. The former Indian pacer disclosed that the star batter had reached out to them in April itself and had made up his mind about retiring from the format.

The 36-year-old officially announced his Test retirement with a poignant post on Instagram, two days after reports floated that he had informed the BCCI about his decision. However, the veteran bid goodbye to the longest format of the game as the most successful Indian Test captain and having amassed 9230 runs, making him the fourth-highest run-getter for the country.

Speaking at the presser on May 24, Saturday, Agarkar said, as quoted by Sports Tak:

"Virat reached us out early in April and said he had made up his mind to retire from Test cricket."

Shubman Gill named new Test captain ahead of England tour

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) finally announced the squad for the five-Test series against England, beginning on June 20. With Rohit Sharma retiring from Test cricket, Shubman Gill has succeeded him, while there was no place for Mohammed Shami. The uncapped players included in the 18-man squad are Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Arshdeep Singh.
