Team India skipper Rohit Sharma was seen raising Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in a hilarious moment after the Men in Blue cruised to victory over England on Sunday at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. In a video surfaced on social media, the 37-year-old was seen raising the politician's hand, thereby congratulating him for victory.
The Nagpur-born cricketer finally stormed to form after a few months of lean patch across formats. The right-handed batter hammered 119 off only 90 deliveries, laced with nine fours and seven sixes to help the hosts chase down 305 with four wickets and 33 deliveries to spare. Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja's sensational figures of 10-1-35-3 had helped India bowl the opposition out for 304, with Joe Root and Ben Duckett standing out for England, scoring half-centuries.
Meanwhile, below is the hilarious moment that Rohit shared with Odisha CM:
"I wanted to break it down" - Rohit Sharma opens up on his recipe of returning to form
At the post-match presentation, Rohit reflected that he looked to bat as deep as possible and that he understood England's tactics quickly to adjust his technique. He elaborated:
"It was good and really enjoyed being out there, scoring some runs for the team. Important game with the series on the line but I broke it down to pieces about how I wanted to bat. Longer than T20s and shorter than Tests and I wanted to break it down. I wanted to bat as deep as possible and that was my focus. Looking at the pitch - when you play on black soil, it tends to skid on a bit and you have to show the full face of the bat initially. Then they bowled into the body and kept it on the stumps and that's where I prepared my plan and tried to access the gaps."
The third and final ODI will take place on February 12, Wednesday in Ahmedabad.
