The Men in Blue kicked their campaign off against Bangladesh with a six-wicket win as Shubman Gill starred with a hundred after Mohammed Shami's pivotal role with the ball. The high-octane clash against Pakistan saw Kuldeep Yadav take three scalps to limit the Men in Green to 241. Later, Virat Kohli notched up his 51st ODI ton to fashion a six-wicket victory for India. Nevertheless, it was New Zealand's win over Bangladesh that sealed India's spot in the semi-finals along with the Kiwis.

Rohit Sharma could be rested for Team India's final group game of Champions Trophy 2025
With the 37-year-old opener struggling with a hamstring injury in the previous game against Pakistan, the management could rest him for the inconsequential fixture against New Zealand on March 2, Sunday. Should Rohit be ruled out, Shubman Gill will captain the Men in Blue against the Black Caps, given he is the vice-captain.
Rohit is also yet to get a big score with the bat in the eight-team tournament yet as he has notched up 61 runs in two matches. Gill, meanwhile, has looked in excellent touch as he followed up his ton against Bangladesh with a composed 46 against Pakistan.
