New Zealand's wicketkeeper-batter Tom Latham has been a crucial player for the Kiwi national team, delivering outstanding performances over the years. Known for his impressive batting skills as a left-hander, Latham has consistently produced excellent results. However, his recent performance has been a departure from his usual form, landing him on a rather undesirable record list.

In the second ODI of the tri-nation series, South Africa, led by Temba Bavuma, set a target of 304 runs after batting first, thanks in part to Matthew Breetzke's impressive 150-run debut. New Zealand's chase got off to a strong start, reaching 237/2, but they suffered a setback with the loss of their third wicket, prompting Tom Latham to step in.

Tom Latham's innings was brief and disappointing, as he was dismissed on the very first ball he faced, trapped LBW by Senuran Muthusamy, failing to trouble the scorers.

A hat-trick of ducks for Tom Latham

Tom Latham's dismal run with the bat has raised eyebrows, with the Kiwi wicketkeeper-batter registering three consecutive ducks against South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, respectively.

The left-hander's string of three consecutive ducks has unfortunately earned him a spot on the unwanted record list of players with the most ducks in the format.

With three consecutive ducks, the Kiwi shares the second spot on the list of most ducks in the format, alongside cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, and Suryakumar Yadav. One more duck would propel him to the top of this unwanted record list.

New Zealand secured their spot in the final of the ODI Tri-Series after emerging victorious in their matches against Pakistan and South Africa. The final is scheduled to take place on the 14th of February at the National Stadium in Karachi, Pakistan.
