Retired Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin was furious with the female umpire after being adjudged lbw in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2025 fixture between the Dindigul Dragons and IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans. After the umpire adjudged him lbw, Ashwin was stunned at the decision and thumped his pad with the bat in frustration.
The dismissal occurred in the fifth over of the innings bowled by R Sai Kishore. With the 38-year-old looking to play a paddle sweep, he missed the ball completely and it hit the pad. The umpire took some time before raising the dreaded finger, triggering an angry reaction from Ashwin.

Ravichandran Ashwin's struggles in IPL 2025
Meanwhile, the veteran off-spinner struggled in IPL 2025 and failed to justify the price tag of ₹9.75 invested by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In nine matches, he managed only seven wickets at an eye-watering 40.43 apiece. With the Super Kings finishing at the bottom of the points table, Ashwin could be released by the franchise ahead of IPL 2026.
The Tamil Nadu-born cricketer had announced his international retirement after the Brisbane Test against Australia last year. He retired as India's second-highest wicket-taker in Tests with 537 scalps in 106 matches.
