The third day of the Suburban Premier Football League (SPFL) resumed this weekend at Borivali, continuing its mission to provide a competitive platform for emerging football clubs in Mumbai's suburban circuit. With the tournament held on weekends, Day 3 brought in a fresh round of fixtures that offered goals, tight contests, and standout performances across the board.
The day began with a close contest between Nexus Youth Foundation and Shalom United, where a solitary goal made the difference. Shalom United held their defensive shape and capitalized on a key moment to edge past Nexus FC 1-0, maintaining a clean sheet in what was a tightly contested affair.
The second match between Wings of Champions and Mumbai Maratha FC provided a balanced mix of early intensity and second-half resilience. Wings of Champions struck first in the 14th minute, setting the tone early. However, Mumbai Maratha responded well after the break and found the equaliser in the 52nd minute, resulting in a 1-1 draw and both teams walking away with a point.
In the third fixture, Holy Cross Sports Foundation secured a 2-0 win against Poojary Football Club, showing strong midfield control and structure. Holy Cross looked composed throughout and converted their chances clinically to walk away with three points.
The final game of the day between Vibrants FC and Satya Vijaya Sports Club turned into a high-scoring spectacle. Satya Vijaya took an aggressive approach from the start, netting goals in the 9th, 23rd, and 31st minutes to put pressure on their opponents early. Vibrants FC managed to pull one back in the 35th minute, but Satya Vijaya kept their foot on the pedal, adding two more in the 47th and 61st minutes. Vibrants responded with another goal in the 55th, but the damage was already done as the match ended 5-2 in favour of Satya Vijaya Sports Club.
