Carlos Alcaraz's heartfelt exchange with the daughter of the fading fan who the Spaniard helped during his opening-round match against Fabio Fognini has gone viral on social media.

The daughter of the woman who had fallen ill shared her gratitude online “Thank you @carlosalcaraz for the concern shown to my mum today who was taken ill during your match. Unlikely you'll see this message but I can try! Thank you.”

Alcaraz replied with genuine warmth stating, “You're very welcome, it was nothing! I hope your mum is doing well. Send her a kiss from me and take good care of her!”

Alcaraz helps the elderly fan on the opening day of Wimbledon 2025

The opening day of Wimbledon 2025 witnessed scorching heat with the Centre Court witnessing the hottest opening day in the tournament’s 148-year history. With temperatures hitting 33°C (91°F), organisers scrambled to implement safety measures from shaded areas to increased hydration stations but the searing heat still took a toll.

Carlos Alcaraz noticed an elderly spectator struggling in the heat. Without waiting for official intervention, the defending champion signalled to tournament staff and passed a water bottle into the stands. Play paused for over 15 minutes as medical staff attended to the fan.

Alcaraz on brutal conditions at Wimbledon 2025

After securing victory in a thrilling match (7-5, 6-7, 7-5, 2-6, 6-1), Alcaraz spoke about the brutal conditions and the fans’ vulnerability in such heat:

“Fans are not used to this weather. Sitting five hours in the sun without moving can be really hard.”

While Alcaraz’s tennis talent continues to dazzle, it’s moments like these that remind the world why he’s more than just a champion on the court.
