Mumbai, July 14: In a tragic incident, Sardar Fauja Singh Ji, the legendary marathon runner, has reportedly passed away at the age of 114 years. The legendary marathoner reportedly died in an accident. Pictures of him being taken on a stretcher with blood on his body have surfaced on social media. There are reports that he was hit by an unidentified vehicle today afternoon at around 3.30 PM in his village, Beas located in Punjab's Jalandhar. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was reportedly declared dead by the hospital authorities.

The tragic news of the accident was shared on social media account "@Gagan4344" on Monday. The journalist said in the post, "Sardar Fauja Singh Ji, the legendary marathoner, has tragically passed away at the age of 114 in a road accident. A global icon of strength, willpower & Sikh pride he inspired millions by running marathons past 100."

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Tajinder Singh Sran also shared the tragic news on his official social media account. He said that Fauja Singh was hit by an unidentified vehicle in his village, Bias. He said, "1911 born, Centenarian Sikh Athlete Sardar #FaujaSingh is No More! He was struck by an unidentified vehicle around 3:30 PM today in his village, Bias, while crossing the road."

Starting his running journey at the age of 89 years to cope with personal loss, Singh went on to become the oldest man ever to complete a full marathon - at the age of 100.
