Rohit Sharma has etched his name into cricket history after winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai. He joins an elite group of captains who have won ICC trophies in both the ODI and T20I formats. The Indian skipper’s remarkable achievement places him alongside the legendary MS Dhoni, who captained India to ICC glory in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup.

MS Dhoni also led India to the finals of the ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup, and Champions Trophy, he never captained India in a World Test Championship final. Rohit, therefore, surpasses Dhoni in this unique achievement, making him the second captain after Dhoni to win ICC titles in both the ODI and T20I formats.

In 2023, Rohit's side played the WTC and ODI World Cup finals, where they conceded defeats against Australia in both the tournaments. However, won his first ICC tournament as a captain in the T20 World Cup 2024, which ended India's 11-year drought without an ICC trophy.

Rohit Sharma joins elusive list of captains after winning ICC Champions Trophy 2025 trophy

Rohit Sharma becomes only the sixth captain in cricket history to win multiple ICC trophies. The five others in this exclusive group are Clive Lloyd, Ricky Ponting, MS Dhoni, Daren Sammy, and Pat Cummins.

What makes Rohit's achievement even more remarkable is that he is now part of an even rarer club—captains who have led their teams to both ICC World Cup and Champions Trophy victories.

With his Champions Trophy title, Rohit joins the ranks of iconic captains like Clive Lloyd, Kapil Dev, Allan Border, Imran Khan, Arjuna Ranatunga, and Steve Waugh.

Rohit has also distinguished himself as the third captain in history, after Clive Lloyd and Ricky Ponting, to win two ICC titles without maintaining a 100% win record
