Virat Kohli is set to make a highly anticipated return to the Ranji Trophy after nearly 13 years. Kohli is using Delhi’s clash against Railways as preparation for the upcoming Champions Trophy. The last time Kohli played in the prestigious domestic tournament was back in 2012 under the captaincy of Virender Sehwag.

Excitement is at an all-time high as visuals from outside Arun Jaitley Stadium show thousands of fans eagerly waiting for entry, chanting "RCB RCB" in support of Kohli, who represents Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.

Free entry for fans to watch Virat Kohli in action

As per The Indian Express, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) secretary Ashok Kumar Sharma confirmed that entry is free for fans, requiring only their original Aadhaar card and a photocopy. The Gautam Gambhir Stand has been designated for spectators, with access through Gate Nos. 16 and 17, while Gate No. 6 is reserved for DDCA members and guests.

“We are expecting around 10,000 fans on the first day. The arrangements are on par with an international or IPL match,” Sharma stated.

With Kohli back in domestic action, the excitement in Delhi is palpable, setting the stage for a thrilling Ranji Trophy spectacle.

Virat Kohli eyes return to form

The Ranji Trophy match is a perfect opportunity for Virat Kohli to get back into form. His performances in Test matches at international level as taken a dip. In 39 Test matches since the start of 2020, Virat has scored just 2,028 runs at an average of 30.72, with just three centuries and nine fifties to show. His best score is 186.

Virat ended the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle with 751 runs in 14 matches and 25 innings at an average of 32.65, with two centuries and three fifties. His best score was 121. In 10 Tests last year, he scored just 417 runs at an average of 24.52 with just one century and fifty, to conclude a disappointing year.
