In the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) match between Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers, Scorchers pacer Jamie Overton tried to Mankad Strikers batter Finn Allen at non-strikers' end. Former Team India spinner R Ashwin has reacted to the clip going viral on social media.
Ashwin taking to X (formerly Twitter) wrote, 'Our vibe shall attract the tribe Jamie'. The veteran spinner was referring to vibe that he will share with Overton during IPL 2025 as they both will play for Chennai Super Kings.
Jamie Overton’s addition can help CSK in more ways as he is someone who can be the X-factor for the side a fast bowling all-rounder who is 6 ft 5 in height and offers variety by being able to hit the deck hard and extract extra bounce or even deceive batters with slower deliveries. He is no mug with the bat and has the potential to be the finisher that CSK has been searching for.
R Ashwin set to play for Chennai Super Kings after retirement
Ashwin was bought by Chennai Super Kings in the IPL auction in November. The off-spinner will return to the Super Kings for the first time since 2015. Speaking about donning the yellow jersey once again, Ashwin said, "I am going to play for CSK. Don't be surprised if I try and aspire to play for as long as I can. I don't think Ashwin the cricketer is done. I think Ashwin the Indian cricketer has probably called it a time,"
The five-time Indian Premier League champions lost Maheesh Theekshana to Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 Auction. After leaving CSK, Ashwin had stints with the 38-year-old had stints at Rising Pune Supergiants, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), Delhi Capitals, and Rajasthan Royals.
