Joe Root has added another remarkable achievement to his illustrious cricket career, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar to become the highest run-scorer in the history of the fourth innings of Test cricket. Root’s consistent performances over the past few years have solidified his status as one of the most dangerous and prolific test batsmen in the world.

Root surpassed Tendulkar’s 1625 runs to become the highest run-scorer in fourth-innings history, with 1630 runs. In the last few years, he has scored more centuries than the likes of Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, and Kane Williamson, underlining his dominance in the format.

Recently, Root surpassed Alastair Cook to become England's highest run-scorer in Test cricket, further cementing his legacy as the nation’s greatest Test batter. Root’s performance in the first Test against New Zealand at Christchurch was especially memorable, as it marked his 150th Test match.

England take 1-0 lead in the three-Test series after an eight-wicket win in Christchurch:

Although the Yorkshire batter was dismissed for a duck in the first innings, the match was still significant for his milestone and the team’s overall performance.

Harry Brook played a crucial role in England’s victory, scoring a brilliant century and helping the visitors take control. Ben Stokes also contributed with a vital 80 runs, propelling England to 499 in their first innings. New Zealand’s former captain, Kane Williamson, made a strong comeback, scoring 93 runs but narrowly missed his 33rd Test century.

In the second innings, New Zealand’s batting faltered again, with only Williamson and Daryl Mitchell scoring 61 and 84 runs, respectively. England chased down the target of 103 with ease, thanks to debutant Jacob Bethell’s quick half-century and Root’s 23 runs. England won the match by 8 wickets.
