The ICC Champions Trophy is just around the corner, and New Zealand has suffered a significant setback with the injury of their star pacer, Lockie Ferguson. Ferguson, known for his pace and experience, has been ruled out of the tournament due to a right-foot injury he sustained during a warm-up match in Karachi.

Ferguson's absence will be deeply felt by the New Zealand team, particularly in the batting-friendly conditions of the Champions Trophy. His ability to generate pace and trouble opposing batsmen was a key factor in New Zealand's bowling attack. Without him, the team will have to rely on other bowlers to fill the void.

“We’re really disappointed for Lockie,” New Zealand coach Gary Stead said. “Lockie is a key part of the bowling group and brings a lot of major tournament experience and we know how much he was looking forward to representing New Zealand at another major event. We wish him well for his recovery and hope he is back firing soon.”

Kyle Jamieson Named as Replacement for Injured Lockie Ferguson in Champions Trophy

New Zealand Cricket has announced that Kyle Jamieson will replace the injured Lockie Ferguson in the Black Caps' squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.

Jamieson has already had a taste of international cricket, having played for the Black Caps in both Tests and ODIs. He has impressed with his ability to generate pace and swing, and has been a key member of the Auckland Aces team in domestic cricket.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to take place in Pakistan, with the tournament kicking off on February 19. New Zealand will face Pakistan in their opening match, and they'll be looking to make a winning start to their campaign despite Ferguson's absence.
