Fox commentator Isa Guha has come under fire for allegedly making racist comments against Jasprit Bumrah on air on day two of the third Test between India and Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane. In a video surfaced on social media, Guha was heard saying on air, "Well, he’s the MVP, isn’t he? Most valuable primate, Jasprit Bumrah."
The moment occurred during the morning session on day two at the Gabba in Brisbane when Bumrah was in the middle of a sharp bowling spell. With Brett Lee, saying, "Bumrah, today: five overs, 2-4. So, that’s the tone, and that’s what you want from the ex-skipper."
Guha responded to the same by saying:
"Well, he’s the MVP, isn’t he? Most valuable primate, Jasprit Bumrah."
Here's how netizens reacted to the same:
Jasprit Bumrah shines as Team India made to toil on day two in Brisbane
Meanwhile, the 31-year-old picked up his second fifer of the series as he waged a lone fight on a day that largely belonged to the Australians. After Bumrah dismissed Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney, Nitish Reddy ended Marnus Labuschagne's 54-ball rearguard as he edged one to Virat Kohli at slip.
However, India had to wait for another 49 overs to get the fourth wicket when Smith edged one off Bumrah to Rohit Sharma. The right-arm speedster dismissed Mitchell Marsh for his fourth scalp, followed by Head for his fifth. Mohammed Siraj removed Pat Cummins late in the day but the hosts have already amassed an imposing 405/7.
However, Australia will need to factor the rain in Brisbane if they are to take a series lead.
