With plenty of uncertainties taking place around whether the bus parade will happen for Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) historic IPL win, the franchise has issued an official statement over the same. The victory parade will begin at 5:00 pm, followed by celebrations at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, where the felicitation ceremony is likely to happen.
Initially, RCB had announced that the parade will begin at 3:30 PM but later reports floated around that the Bengaluru Traffic Police were reconsidering the decision due to traffic congestion. However, the Karnataka State Cricket Association's (KSCA) officials likely managed to convince the authorities to hold the parade.
The Royal Challengers finished with what seemed like a below-par score of 190 against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their stipulated 20 overs as Virat Kohli top-scored with 43 off 35 deliveries. Although PBKS had given themselves more than a promising start, the middle overs derailed them and eventually they fell six runs short of the target. Krunal Pandya earned the Player of the Match award for figures of 4-0-17-2.
Virat Kohli's emotions caps off RCB's long wait to lift IPL trophy
With Josh Hazlewood tasked with bowling the 20th over of the innings and Punjab Kings needing an improbable 29 for victory, the right-arm seamer had sealed the win in the first two balls itself as it went as dots.
The cameras panned to Virat Kohli, whose eyes were already moist as he was overcome with emotions. Shashank Singh dished out three sixes in the last four deliveries but the game was done and dusted and RCB eked out a six-run win to lift their maiden title.
Pandya, who earned the Player of the Match award for his figures, dismissed Prabhsimran Singh and Josh Inglis.
