MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant were seen having a fun conversation as they discussed the former's run-out that he affected during the IPL 2025 match between the Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants on Monday. Dhoni suggested that he simply saw the three stumps and went for the throw.
The context was about Abdul Samad's run-out as it occurred in the final over of the innings when Matheesha Pathirana sent a delivery down the leg side. With Samad running at the other end to steal a bye, the Super Kings' skipper nonchalantly threw the ball at the other end, catching him comfortably short at the non-striker's end.
Speaking in a video shared by LSG, here's how the conversation between Dhoni and Pant went:
Dhoni said:
"Wicket dekha maar diya lagi toh theek hai." (I saw the stumps and hit it thinking its okay if it hits or not).
In response, Pant stated:
"Lag hi jaa rahi hai na aapki." (Your throws are hitting the stumps only right).

With the Lucknow Super Giants put into bat, they had lost Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran cheaply within the powerplay. However, Pant brought up his first half-century of the season, scoring 63 off 49 deliveries, lifting the Super Giants to 166/7 in 20 overs.
Although the five-time champions started the run-chase in promising fashion, they had slumped to 111/5 at one stage, making the job difficult for themselves. However, MS Dhoni and Shivam Dube stayed till the end to seal their second win of the tournament.
