As teammates looked on, Axar seized the moment, picking up the top half of the bat now just a handle with a small bit of blade and jokingly introduced it as a "mongoose bat" to teammate Tristan Stubbs. The joke quickly caught on, prompting laughs around the net session.

Rahul reached the landmark in just 130 innings, breaking Aussie star David Warner's record. Warner had reached the 5000-run mark in 135 innings.
