Loud boos ran among spectators at the Old Trafford Cricket Stadium in Manchester when Team India captain Shubman Gill walked out to bat on day 1 of the fourth Test against England. Although boos can be heard in a video surfaced on social media, the noise from the spectators were also reportedly due to some Elvis impersonators getting thrown out of the stadium.

The 25-year-old attracted plenty of spotlight when he engaged in a scuffle with Zak Crawley on day three of the third Test at the Lord's Cricket Ground over the openers trying to waste time. The elegant right-handed batter had also questioned England's spirit of cricket during the press conference before the fourth Test, claiming the openers arrived 90 seconds late to the crease.

Nevertheless, the Punjab-born cricketer didn't last long in the crease as his opposite number Ben Stokes trapped him lbw for 12 off 23 deliveries. With Gill offering no shot to an incoming delivery, Stokes appealed vociferously to on-field umpire Rod Tucker, who raised the dreaded finger after some contemplation. Although Gill took the review, ball-tracking returned three reds, forcing the visiting captain to walk back.
However, the most significant moment of the day came in the 68th over when Rishabh Pant copped a blow to his toe while going for the reverse sweep against Chris Woakes off a yorker length. The wound of the keeper-batter soon started bleeding and he had to be carried off on a golf kart, leaving him in agony.
B Sai Sudharsan top-scored for the tourists on day one with a defiant 61 as India finished at 264-4. Much of the responsibility will be on Ravindra Jadeja, who has been in good form with the bat in this series. With a capable batter in Washington Sundar yet to come, India will be targeting at least a total of 350 to challenge Ben Stokes and co.
