Former West Indian and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has made a stunning revelation before accepting the job of a mentor of the Kolkata Knight Riders. Bravo disclosed that he made a call to MS Dhoni before taking up the job and accepted the role only he gave the nod.
The Trinidadian was part of multiple Super Kings' title-winning campaign and played in two stints for the franchise. Additionally, the retired cricketer has also served as the Super Kings' bowling coach last year and formed a good bond with long-time skipper Dhoni.
In a video on Instagram, when the anchor asked who will Bravo support if the IPL 2025 final takes place between the Knight Riders and the Super Kings. He answered:
"Kolkata vs CSK, IPL final. I obviously want Kolkata to win. It's sad but that's where I'm coaching and that's where they brought me to continue their legacy. Dhoni will understand. When I got the job offer, I called him personally and I only accepted the offer after he said accept it. So, that's the respect I have for him and the organization. Everyone really supported my decision, I'm happy and grateful for that and now I have to do what I have to."
MS Dhoni has the joint-most number of titles as captain in IPL history
Meanwhile, the legendary keeper-batter has ushered the Super Kings to glory on five occasions, including consecutive times in 2010 and 2011. He had shockingly stepped down from the role, a day before IPL 2024, handing over the reins. Despite retiring from the international arena, Dhoni still enjoys the same stardom in IPL.
At 43, he is also the oldest cricketer to play in IPL 2025.
