Vetera Mixed Martial Arts fighter Jon Jones made a cheeky comment during the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award (ESPYS) awards held recently in Los Angeles. While coming to present the nominees for the Comeback athlete of the Year award, the 37-year-old hinted at his return by stating that everyone loves a good comeback.

The veteran MMA fighter had announced his retirement on June 21 after relinquishing his heavyweight championship. It lasted only two weeks as Jones announced the reversal of his retirement after United States' President Donald Trump revealed plans to host an event on the White House grounds in the next independence day.
After confirming the reversal of his retirement at the ESPYS awards' red carpet, Jones' co-award presenter asked whether he retired and meant it. He answered:
"I did at the time but I do know that everyone loves a good comeback right guys?"
What did Jon Jones say at the ESPYS Red Carpet show?
Speaking at the red carpet, Jones explained his decision to retire due to achieving almost everything in the arena but felt the opportunity to fight at the White House Garden was massive. As quoted by MMAWeekly, he said:
"I was retired. I felt like I was at a place where I've done it all in the MMA space. I felt like there wasn't too many more challenges for me and I just wanted to do something more than championships and money and Donald Trump mentioned that he wanted to have a fight at the White House garden. That just seems like such a huge opportunity. I'm a very proud American."
