Sanjay Manjrekar has taken jibe at Rohit Sharma over his response to retirement rumours following the Sydney Test. Rohit decided to sit out of the final test against Australia due to poor form. Manjrekar in his tweet said, "When to retire, is upto the player but how long to play, is upto the selectors."
Rohit Sharma clears air on retirement
Rohit Sharma quashed reports about retirement following his non-selection for the Sydney Test. Speaking to Star Sports during the lunch break on day two, Rohit said, "This is not a decision to retire, nor am I stepping away from the game. I've stood down for this match because I wasn't scoring runs with the bat at the moment."
"There is no guarantee runs won't come five or two months down the line. I have seen a lot in cricket that life changes every second, every minute, every day. I have confidence in me that things can change, but at the same time I have to be realistic as well. So life won't change by what people with a mic, pen or laptop write or say."
He further added"They can't decide when we should retire, when we should sit out, when we should captain. I am a sensible man, mature man, father of two kids. So I know what I need in life. I am not in form and it’s an important game. We need an in-form player."
"Our batting order isn’t in form at the moment. So out-of-form players can’t carry the team at the moment. So this was the simple thing in my mind. It was my understanding that I should tell the coach and the selector and they backed my call.’’

Despite Jasprit Bumrah's absence on day three of the final Test against Australia, Team India threatened to pull off a remarkable heist in Sydney. However, the likes of Usman Khawaja, Travis Head and Beau Webster held their nerve to take their side to victory. Earlier, Scott Boland claimed a six-for as the tourists could manage only 16 runs to their overnight score.
Scott Boland and Pat Cummins ran through India's line-up to take the remaining four wickets only for 16 runs on day three of the fifth Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Boland, who had taken four scalps by Stumps on day two, took his second fifer in Test cricket as Australia bundled India out for 157.
With a 145-run lead but only four more wickets left as Australia victory by 6 wickets.
