German football star Florian Wirtz has officially signed his contract to become a Liverpool player, with both clubs, Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen, completing all the paperwork for the transfer. He is now Liverpool’s and Premier League's biggest-ever signing.
The total deal is reportedly worth around £116 million, including bonuses, making it one of the most expensive transfers in Premier League history. Wirtz has agreed to a five-year contract and has already passed his medical tests.
With two years left on his Leverkusen contract, Wirtz was also heavily linked with a move to German champions Bayern Munich and Pep Guardiola’s City, who were looking to replace Kevin De Bruyne. He will now reunite with Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong.

Writz on joining Liverpool
After signing with Premier League champions Writz said, “I feel very happy and very proud. Finally it’s done and I was waiting for a long time – finally it’s done and I am really happy,”.
“I’m really excited to have a new adventure in front of me. This was also a big point of my thoughts: that I want to have something completely new, to go out of the Bundesliga and to join the Premier League."
He added,“I will see how I can perform there. I hope I can do my best. I also spoke with some players who played there, and they told me that it’s perfect for me, and every pitch is perfect, you can enjoy every game. I’m really looking forward to playing my first game,”
Why was Writz a major signing for Liverpool?
