Mumbai Indians' star batter Suryakumar Yadav was seen having a hilarious chat with fans after landing at the Chennai Airport ahead of their opening match of IPL 2025 against the Chennai Super Kings on March 23, Sunday. With a fan seemingly demanding Suryakumar's shades, he was hilariously seen telling the fans he will go blind if he gave it away.
Suryakumar will lead the side in Hardik Pandya's absence in Mumbai Indians' IPL 2025 opener on Sunday. With Pandya serving a one-match ban due to slow over-rate in Mumbai's final match of the previous season, the swashbuckling all-rounder has to sit out of the contest. It will also be the second time that Suryakumar Yadav captains in an IPL game, having done so once in the 2023 edition.
In the video, the Mumbai-born cricketer was heard saying:
"Ek ka -2 hai, ek ka -1 number hai. Tereko bhi chashma lag jaayega phir. Yeh nikaalne ke baad main dekhunga kaise. (One is having -2 and the other is -1 number. Even you will get spectacles after this. How will I be able to see after removing this?)
Suryakumar Yadav had a decent IPL season in 2024
Although the 34-year-old had a decent IPL season in 2024, scoring 345 runs in 11 matches at 34.50 alongside a strike rate of 167.47, his recent form with the bat remains a concern. The recent five-game T20I series against England saw the right-hander register two ducks along with a best of 14.
Having finished at the bottom of the points table last year, Mumbai Indians will be keen to turn their form around.
