In a light-hearted moment ahead of Delhi Capitals' crucial IPL 2025 clash with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, DC skipper Axar Patel paused his net session to greet former teammate and current RCB mentor Dinesh Karthik at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. As Axar was honing his batting skills, Karthik quietly approached the nets, prompting the all-rounder to halt his practice and exchange a friendly greeting.
The moment quickly turned playful as Karthik, slightly caught off guard by Axar's gesture, urged him to stay focused. “Be a good captain,” Karthik joked, trying to wave him back to the crease. Axar responded warmly, saying, “Arey DK bhai, bhai ho yaar aap” (You're my brother, DK). Embarrassed but smiling, Karthik walked away saying, “That’s exactly why I don’t come near the nets. Don’t fool around, just bat.”
Delhi Capitals flying under Axar Patel's captaincy
After Rishabh Pant's departure to Lucknow Super Giants, Axar Patel was handed the reigns of the team. The Gujarat cricketer has so far done exceptionally well by leading Delhi with confidence. Goign by the current form, the Capitals are placed second on the points table with 12 points from eight matches.
DC opener Jake Fraser-McGurk praised Axar Patel's captaincy. "Axar is just one of those players that leads everyone, and everyone follows him. He's an amazing talent, and the way he plays just makes everyone really proud to be at Delhi Capitals. He remains calm and relaxed at all times.
