In the ongoing Champions Trophy match between England and Afghanistan, pacer Jofra Archer reached a major milestone, becoming the fastest England bowler to take 50 ODI wickets.

He achieved this feat in just 30 matches, surpassing James Anderson, who took 31 games to reach the mark. Archer’s milestone wicket came when he dismissed Sediqaullah Atal, which was his second wicket of the match. He ended his first spell with impressive figures of 3/22 in six overs.

England and Afghanistan are facing off in a virtual knockout match, where the losing team will be eliminated from the tournament. After winning the toss, Afghanistan chose to bat but had a shaky start, losing three quick wickets.

However, Ibrahim Zadran anchored the innings brilliantly, scoring a century and becoming the first Afghan player to hit centuries in both the World Cup and Champions Trophy.

Skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi contributed with 40 runs, while Azamatullah Omarzai added a crucial 41. As of now, Afghanistan is at 236/5 after 43 overs, with Ibrahim Zadran unbeaten on 122 and Mohammad Nabi on 10. For England, Jofra Archer has been the standout bowler with three wickets, while Jamie Overton and Adil Rashid have taken one each.
