In a significant legal development, the Allahabad High Court has granted interim relief to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fast bowler Yash Dayal by staying his arrest in connection with a sexual exploitation case. The cricketer has been accused of allegedly exploiting a woman over a span of five years under the pretext of marriage.

The FIR was registered against Dayal recently, leading to concerns over a potential arrest. However, on Tuesday, a two-judge bench comprising Justice Siddhartha Varma and Justice Anil Kumar issued a stay on his arrest until the next hearing, offering temporary relief to the pacer.

During the proceedings, the bench raised questions over the credibility of the complainant’s allegations. Expressing skepticism about the extended duration of the relationship in question, the court remarked, “You could have been fooled for 1 day, 2 day 3 day…but 5 years...you are entering into a relationship for 5 years...one can't be fooled for 5 years,” according to Live Law.

While the case continues to be under judicial review, Dayal remains free from immediate detention as the court considers the merits of the accusations. The next hearing date is awaited. Yash Dayal controversy

A woman accused Dayal of deceiving her with false promises of marriage over a five-year relationship, which allegedly began in 2021 after the two connected on Instagram.

The woman reportedly escalated her complaint by contacting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath through the state’s Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) on June 21, prompting swift police action.

Based on her complaint, the Ghaziabad police registered an FIR under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to sexual relations obtained through deceit, including false promises of marriage.

The woman also told the police that this led to her suffering from depression, for which she even sought treatment.

She alleged, “I tried to end my life many times because I couldn’t get out of the mental pain, and he and his family kept giving me false assurances. His relationship with other women caused me deep mental trauma and broke me down,”
