The Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are currently facing each other in the ongoing IPL 2025 season at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Riyan Parag has once again faced wrath of fans on social media for dropping an easy catcyh of Virat Kohli.

The incident happened in the first ball of the third over by Sandeep Sharma. Kohli misplaced the short and Parag who was standing at long off ran to take the catch but ultimately the ball popped out of his hand while he went down to the ground.

Here's how fans reacted to Riyan Parag's drop catch

Will Riyan Parag justify his price tag?

Despite flashes of promise over the years, Parag has largely failed to justify the hype surrounding his performances. Ahead of IPL 2025 he was retained y the franchise for 14 crore. In his seven-year IPL career, he has featured in 75 matches, scoring 1,338 runs at an average of just 25.25. With only six half-centuries to his name, his numbers donโ€™t quite match the expectations that come with such a hefty price tag.

While Rajasthan Royals continue to back the 22-year-old, the frustration among fans is growing louder. Will Riyan Parag finally rise to the occasion, or will his story in the IPL remain one of missed potential?

RCB in control against Royals

Yashasvi Jaiswal's fine 75(47) took RR to a total of 173-4 in their first innings in Jaipur. He was also helped out by cameos from Riyan Parag (30 off 22) and Dhruv Jurel (35* off 22) on a slightly tricky and low surface. However, at the time of writing RCB made quick work of it in the powerplay as their openers brought up the half-century partnership in just five overs. However Phil Sat innings of 65 runs was finally ended by Kumar Kartikeya caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal
