Texas Super Kings batter Donovan Ferreira left everyone stunned with explosive batting performance in the final over of the Team's innings against Washington Freedom which was reduced to five overs due to rain.
After Daryl Mitchell was retired out at the end of the third over with the score at 34/1 Ferreira launched a brutal counterattack. In the final over bowled by Mitchell Owen, Ferreira went berserk, hammering four sixes in a and finishing the over with 6, 6, 6, 2, 2, 6 collecting 28 runs to set the second-highest total in a five-over format game.
TSK secure comfortable win
With regular skipper Faf du Plessis sidelined due to a minor injury, Marcus Stoinis led TSK. After being asked to bat first, Netravalkar dismissed Stoinis early in a 5 over a saide match. Washington Freedom’s chase started brightly with Rachin Ravindra hitting a four and a six, but Nandre Burger swung momentum TSK’s way by removing Ravindra and Glenn Maxwell off consecutive balls. Akeal Hosein followed up with a remarkable over that included five dot balls and a wicket, effectively ending Freedom’s hopes. They finished at 44/4, falling well short of the target.
The result has tightened the race at the top, with Texas Super Kings, San Francisco Unicorns, and Washington Freedom all tied at 12 points with two games left in the group stage.
