The rising hooliganism in Satara city has left peace-loving residents disturbed and angry. They say that it is high time that the police and responsible public representatives take strong and immediate action to stop such growing lawlessness.
On Monday afternoon, a horrifying incident shook the entire Satara district: a minor school girl was attacked by a youth blinded by one-sided love. The accused threatened the girl at knifepoint before committing the crime. The accused has been identified as Aryan Waghmale, a resident of Basappa Peth, Karanje in Satara city and a student of class 12. The Shahupuri Police have taken him into custody and registered a case against him.
The victim is a student of a reputed educational institution in Satara. Aryan had reportedly been harassing her for some time due to his one-sided infatuation. After the girl refused to respond to his advances, he resorted to violence, threatening her with a knife and attempting to force himself on her. Shockingly, Aryan even tried to scare away people who came near, brandishing the knife at them.
A large crowd gathered at the scene, and many citizens and women present tried to intervene and stop him. After repeated efforts to reason with him failed, a doctor from the public managed to snatch the knife and overpower him. The girl was rescued, and the youth was thrashed by the angry crowd before being handed over to the Shahupuri Police.
The parents of the girl and some school teachers had already lodged a complaint against Aryan at the Shahupuri Police Station, but it was reportedly not taken seriously. As a result, the incident has sparked outrage across the city. Many are now questioning how such a heinous crime could have taken place despite prior warnings.
Concerned citizens and journalists have now met Satara District Superintendent of Police Tushar Doshi, demanding strict action. Doshi has assured that if negligence is found on the part of the police, action will be taken against those responsible after a full investigation.
There is growing worry among residents that many such cases are being settled quietly without proper legal action. The people of Satara, known for their peaceful nature, are now demanding justice and stricter enforcement to ensure that such terrifying incidents do not repeat in the future.
