There is currently a severe water shortage in Ambewadi Shivara in Nashik's Igatpuri taluka, and tribal women here are literally having to risk their lives to fetch drinking water. The percolation pond in the area has completely dried up, and only a small stream on one side is available.

It takes about 20 minutes to fill a pot of water from this stream. However, the women's hardships do not end here. After that, they have to climb the mountain with the filled pot and cross a difficult, narrow, and dangerous road of 1 to 1.5 kilometres. This journey is extremely troublesome and life-threatening.
According to local citizens, there have been many incidents of women slipping and getting injured while carrying water. However, the administration has not taken any proper measures yet.
Notably, although the work of water tanks and pipelines under the Jal Jeevan Mission has been completed in the village, water supply in the tank has not started yet due to lack of proper planning. Therefore, this plan has remained only on paper.
This serious problem has caused deep resentment among the villagers. Women in particular are facing immense hardship in their daily lives, and a major health and safety issue has arisen.
The villagers have demanded that the administration immediately arrange water and conduct an inquiry into the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission.
