The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a list of authorised contractors and designated officers for each area to trim and prune tree branches.

The decision was taken to address tree-related incidents reported across Pune during the monsoon. Complaints often include fallen branches obstructing roads and, in some cases, causing fatalities.

Residents of areas like Sahakarnagar and Padmavati, where branches are dangerously close to power lines, have raised concerns that trimming should be carried out in their localities to avoid any mishaps.

Ashok Ghorpade, head of the PMC Garden Department, said, “The decision has been taken following the incidents of tree falls, which are common during monsoons."

"We have provided a list of authorised tree-cutting contractors and tree officers for each ward. This will help residents get a quick resolution and easily file complaints, ensuring that the concerned authorities can respond immediately," he added.
