Pune will witness more rain next week due to favourable conditions for pre-monsoon showers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued a yellow alert for the city for the next four days. The alert applies to Kothrud, Vadgaon Sheri, Hadapsar, Vishrantwadi, Aundh, Baner and Sinhgad Road. The IMD forecast suggests that skies will remain cloudy throughout the morning, with rainfall commencing around 3pm.
Lohegaon has consistently recorded the highest temperature in the city over the last few weeks at over 35°C. Meanwhile, Shivajinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6°C. With the downpour across Pune, the city's maximum temperature has also gone down.
The yellow alert indicates the city's temperature will be on the higher side, said IMD officials.
On Thursday, Koregaon Park recorded a 36.6°C day temperature, followed by Vadgaon Sheri at 34.8°C, Pashan at 35.0°C, Hadapsar at 34.6°C, Chinchwad at 35.2°C and Magarpatta at 35.4°C.
The IMD suggested that the rain will persist for four days, followed by lightning and thunderstorms. The gusty winds will reach speeds of up to 30–40 km/h. The South-West Monsoon 2025 today covered areas of the South-East Arabian Sea, South Bay of Bengal, and parts of the Andaman Islands and Andaman Sea.
IMD's Extended Range Forecast suggests fast movement of the monsoon in week 2. The monsoon is likely to reach Goa, South Maharashtra (even in Gangetic West Bengal). Presently, pre-monsoon rain with lightning/thunder and gusty wind is likely to continue in Maharashtra (including Mumbai and Pune), Madhya Pradesh, South India, and Eastern India.
