Pune: Police Aspirants Allegedly Assaulted At Taljai Hill During Training (VIDEO) |

Pune has seen a disturbing rise in unprovoked assaults, and the latest incident has sparked public outrage. On Monday morning, a group of young men and women training at Taljai Hill for police recruitment were allegedly attacked by a group of 10–12 youth. The group reportedly insulted them with remarks like, “You are not fit to be a policeman,” and physically beat both male and female aspirants.

The incident occurred while the students were conducting their regular physical exercises. Panic spread as the group got into an argument with the other gorup. A video of the scuffle is now going viral, drawing widespread criticism.

As per a IANS, around 15-20 people attacked police recruitment trainees practicing at Pune’s Taljai Hills, physically assaulting students and a police constable. The attackers threatened further violence. Trainees have filed an FIR, and police are investigating the serious law and order breach

This is not the first time when an altercation took place at Taljai Hill. Earlier in 2024, the forest department has banned running clubs from practicing on Taljai Hill following an altercation between a runner and a walker. The new rule is enforced by a forest guard who advises visitors against running on the hill.

Pune is home to several iconic hills such as Vetal Tekdi, Taljai Hill, and Parvati Hill, which are popular among morning walkers, joggers, and fitness enthusiasts. These green spaces often attract running clubs and groups of students preparing for competitive exams that require physical training, such as police or army recruitment.

The hills serve as vital fitness hubs for the city's youth. Many also use these locations for group workouts, yoga sessions, and nature treks, making them not just places for exercise but also for community bonding and mental well-being. These spots remain vibrant from dawn to dusk.
