In a significant judgement, a fake doctor practising without a medical degree was sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment by the Khadki Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Court. The doctor was found treating patients without a medical degree and has been sentenced to two years of imprisonment and a fine of ₹2,000.

Acting on a tip-off, the Pune Municipal Corporation's (PMC) health department initiated an investigation.

The convicted individual, Milankumar Amar Thakur (34), a resident of Dhanori, originally from West Bengal, was found guilty of practising medicine without the required qualifications. His activities came to light after the PMC's health department received information about his illegal practice. Dr Rekha Umesh Galande, a medical officer with the civic body, complained to the Vishrantwadi Police Station, leading to Thakur's arrest.

During the investigation, the police found a stock of medicines at Thakur's makeshift clinic. Assistant Police Inspector Suryakant Marude of Vishrantwadi Police Station led the inquiry and filed a charge sheet against Thakur. The prosecution, represented by Assistant Public Prosecutor Sayali Thokal, presented sufficient evidence and testimony to convince the court of Thakur's guilt.

Thokal argued the case, supported by Assistant Sub-Inspector Patil and constables Kolpe and Patil, who played a crucial role in court proceedings. Considering the evidence and testimonies, the court convicted Thakur and handed down the sentence.
