The Save Indian Family Foundation (SIFF), a prominent men's rights organization, has strongly condemned the movie 'Mrs.' for its "biased and inaccurate portrayal of men". While the film claims to highlight the struggles of women in marriage, SIFF argues that it perpetuates harmful stereotypes about men and overlooks the experiences of men who are real victims of domestic violence.

SIFF, which has long been at the forefront of advocating for men's rights, points out what they tag as growing trend of biased depictions of men in the media. Through ground activism and protests, the organization has consistently challenged such portrayals and raised awareness of the issues faced by men in Indian society. The organization claims that contemporary feminism has evolved into a toxic ideology that promotes gender inequality and unnecessarily sparks a gender war against men. 'Mrs.' is cited as another example of feminist propaganda being used to demonize men and undermine the family system.

SIFF takes particular issue with the film's depiction of men as perpetrators of domestic violence, stressing that domestic violence is a two-way street, and men can also be victims. "According to statistics, women initiate two-thirds of all incidents of domestic violence, and 33.2% of male suicides are linked to family-related issues. Despite these statistics, 'Mrs.' neglects the experiences of men and promotes a one-sided narrative blaming men for all relationship problems. The Indian film industry has historically focused on portraying women as victims, while often ignoring the rising number of male suicides, which now outpace female suicides," notes the statement issued by SIFF.

It added, "This glaring imbalance highlights the industry's failure to address the issue of domestic violence perpetrated by women, leaving a critical issue unexplored."

Sameer Goel, National Co-Ordinator at SIFF, comments, "A man works hard, provides, and protects without seeking praise, yet his efforts are often ignored. Meanwhile, modern feminist narratives brainwash women to 'fight back'—even when they are already in privileged positions—by portraying them as lifelong victims. Why?"

SIFF activists are now calling for a boycott of 'Mrs.' and actress Sanya Malhotra, urging people to reject one-sided feminist narratives that promote gender inequality.

SIFF’s Demands:

Filmmakers should apologize for the biased portrayal of men and remove the film from online platforms and theatres.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) must halt the release of films that promote gender bias or male genocide.

The government should implement prenuptial agreements in the Indian marriage system.

The Supreme Court and lower courts should apply IPC Section 211 to punish those misusing the legal system by filing false cases.

Indian courts should treat both genders equally, showing equal empathy to men and women.

The government should establish a special commission to address the rising issue of suicides in India.
