Pune: Drunk man threatens to kill CM Shinde, arrested; further probe on

The man had called the helpline asking for an ambulance but when he was asked to dial '108' he got abusive. He reportedly threatened to kill CM Shinde as well, cops said.

Pune: Police in Pune have detained a man for allegedly threatening to kill Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

The police identified the suspect as Rajesh Maruti Agawane, a resident of Kothrud. Agawane works as a ward boy in Dharavi, Mumbai, and comes to Kothrud twice a month to meet his wife, the police added. The man was allegedly drunk when he issued the threats.

Person initially called control room asked for an ambulance

A senior officer said the call was received on the control room number 112 on Monday night. The person who made the call initially asked the police to send an ambulance as he was suffering from chest pain. He was asked to call 108 for an ambulance. But after some time, he again called 112 and threatened to kill the chief minister.

The police launched a search for the caller and nabbed Agawane in a drunken state from Kothrud area. Further investigation was on, the police added.
