In a shocking case in Pune, the police have booked eight persons in connection with the alleged rape of a Bhutanese woman, officials said on Tuesday.
According to the police, the case came to light during the investigation of another matter in which Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Shantanu Samuel Kukde has been arrested.
Sandeep Singh Gill, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1), told The Free Press Journal, "A fresh complaint has been lodged against eight people, in which three have been booked under molestation charges and the others for rape. Six of the accused have been arrested, and the remaining two will be arrested soon. The matter is under investigation, and action will be taken accordingly."
While the police did not officially disclose the names of the accused, sources revealed that a lawyer named Vipin Bidkar is among those arrested.

A case has been registered under Sections 376 and 354 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Samarth Police Station.
