A shocking incident has come to light from Pune's Kondhwa area, where a nine-year-old girl was raped by her 16-year-old step-brother in a public toilet situated near their house, officials said on Monday. The incident came to light when the girl complained to her parents about stomach pain, they added.

According to the police, at around 10pm on Saturday, the girl went to the public toilet where the accused followed her. He locked the door from inside and raped her. The victim went to the home, where she informed her mother about the unbearable pain in her stomach. When the victim removed her clothes, the mother came to know about the heinous act. Accordingly, the victim's mother lodged a complaint at the Kondhwa Police Station.

Vinay Patankar, Senior Police Inspector, Kondhwa Police station, speaking to The Free Press Journal, said, "The victim and juvenile accused are stepbrother and sister. When the victim was going to the washroom, he followed her and locked the door from inside. Action will be taken against him according to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. Further, the matter is under investigation, and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the POCSO Act."
