A major accident took place in the wee hours of Monday in Pune's Kothrud area. A bus driver has been severely injured and is being treated at a city hospital.



Sachin Shinde, Pune Fire Officer, speaking to The Free Press Journal, said, "The accident took place around 5:10am at a bridge in front of Ved Bhavan, Kothrud. When the police arrived at the scene, both the legs of driver, Uttam Kopre, aged approximately 50, were stuck between the dashboard and the brake, and his chest was stuck in the steering wheel. With the help of the police, the injured person was safely taken out and sent to the hospital in an ambulance."
According to the police, the bus was heading towards Mumbai from Satara when the incident took place. "As per the initial investigation, the incident occurred due to rain. Passengers are safe, and no fatalities have been reported. Further investigation is underway."
Reportedly, four to five other vehicles have been hit in the accident.
