US Congressman and Indian-origin leader Shri Thanedar recently visited Nashik. While interacting with the media, he spoke candidly on Indo-US relations, misconceptions about India and his political stance.
Thanedar highlighted the importance of friendly relations between India and the US. "It is essential for the citizens of both countries to have good relations," he said. He explained that people of different religions, castes and economic classes live together in India, and criticism of India based on certain issues here sometimes spreads misinformation.
Thanedar also expressed doubts about the claims of the US mediating the Indo-Pakistan tension and 'Operation Sindoor'. “I don’t know much about it, but I don’t think America took the lead in this,” he said. He cited US VP JD Vance as saying that America expects India and Pakistan to resolve issues peacefully.

Thanedar said that he supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the US for his speech at the joint session. He expressed the need to dispel misconceptions about India, especially criticisms of human rights. He took a neutral stance on India’s internal politics. “We work with leaders and representatives elected by the people of India. We have no right to tell them who to elect,” he asserted.
Regarding former US President Donald Trump’s criticism of Thanedar, he said, “That’s Trump’s nature. But I will continue to work for my constituency and for the right things.” He also clarified that he will not be intimidated by trolling and criticism on social media.
Thanedar also discussed local issues during this meeting in Nashik. He emphasised the need to enhance cooperation between India and the US in trade, agriculture and other areas. “Both countries should work together for democracy, human rights and religious freedom,” he urged.
Thanedar’s visit to Nashik was important in strengthening the friendship between India and the US. He expressed positive feelings about India and presented his position on local and global issues. His visit also generated enthusiasm among the citizens of Nashik.
