A total of 4.82 lakh customers in the Nashik circle have accumulated arrears amounting to Rs 84 crore, prompting Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to disconnect the electricity supply of 12,414 defaulting customers in January alone. To ensure uninterrupted electricity services, the utility provider has urged defaulters to clear their dues on time.

To address these dues, MSEDCL has launched a special disconnection campaign across all divisions, following directions issued by Executive Director (Distribution) Dattatray Padalkar in a recent review meeting.

Under the supervision of Chief Engineer Gyandev Padalkar, officers and engineers have executed the disconnection campaign in Nashik city and surrounding areas. Despite regular reminders and transparent communication via meter readings and electricity bill notifications on registered mobile numbers, many customers have failed to pay their dues.

This intensified recovery drive underscores MSEDCL's commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability while addressing mounting arrears in the Nashik circle.

Appeal to customers

MSEDCL has appealed to defaulters to cooperate by clearing dues promptly to avoid inconvenience and reconnection delays. The campaign aims to ensure fair and uninterrupted electricity service for all paying customers.

Arrears by division

Nashik Mandal: ₹27.30 crore owed by 1,82,122 customers.

Malegaon Mandal: ₹7.67 crore owed by 54,091 customers.

Ahilyanagar Mandal: ₹49.02 crore owed by 2,46,117 customers.

Process for defaulters

Notice of disconnection: Customers receive a prior disconnection notice via registered mobile numbers or emails.

Disconnection: If payments remain unpaid beyond the notice period, the electricity supply is disconnected.

Reconnection: Upon payment of dues along with reconnection charges (including GST), the supply is restored based on geographical factors, which may cause delays.
