Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) has initiated a road‑widening drive in the city. So far, around 3,500 properties have been demolished along Munkundwadi–Chikalthana, Paithan, and Padegaon–Mitmitta roads. Now, the problem of clearing the debris from the demolished construction material has arisen. CSMC plans to clear the debris, and property owners have been given four days to remove steel from the material. The clearance task will begin afterward, deploying 15 trucks and 5 JCB machines. It is expected that around 3,000 truckloads of debris will need removal.
CSMC technical department executive engineer Amol Kulkarni said most property owners have requested time to retrieve steel from the demolished material. Hence, four days were granted, and clearance will start on Wednesday or Thursday.
The debris removal will take around 15 to 20 days. The debris amounts to lakhs of metric tons. Properties demolished so far include Mukundwadi, Paithan, and Padegaon roads. Around 418 properties were demolished in the Beed Bypass area, 850 on Paithan Road, 1,364 on Jalna Road, and 750 on Padegaon Road.
Thousands of tons of steel are buried under the debris, and it is not an easy task to extract it. Steel must be removed after breaking concrete slabs and walls, which is time‑consuming.

Demolition drive to continue on Monday
CSMC anti-encroachment squad demolished 272 properties on Sharnapur Phata–Padegaon Road on Friday. The drive was halted on Saturday and Sunday, and will resume on Monday on Delhi Gate to Harsul T-point to Cidco Bus Stand.
As per the order issued by administrator G. Sreekanth, under the guidance of anti-encroachment squad chief Santosh Wahule, 272 pakka and kaccha structures were demolished on Friday, including hotels, lodges, shops, sheds, compounds, platforms, washing centres, gates, advertisement boards, and more. The operation was carried out by around 350 CSMC staff and 250 police personnel.
