While Pune remains one of the major metros in India known for its persistent traffic troubles, the Pune City Police have now decided to take a proactive step by equipping every single traffic officer with professional-grade training.

Inspired by the vision of Commissioner of Police, Pune City, Amitesh Kumar, the Pune Traffic Police Academy was conceptualized to transform the way traffic policing is carried out in the city.

Between February 23 and May 10, 2025, 18 sessions of the training program were successfully completed under the direction of joint CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma and extra CP Manoj Patil.

In a historic step, all traffic branch officers and staff—63 police officers and 1045 employees—went through extensive training, making Pune's traffic unit among the most well-trained in the nation.

The training sessions covered:

Soft Skills & Psychotherapy

Motor Vehicle Act & Traffic Regulations

Green Corridor & VVIP Convoy Management

Behavioral Training for Public Interaction

CPR and First Aid Response

Traffic e-Challan Operation & Digital Tools

Sessions were conducted by a team of distinguished trainers and experts, including Manoj Patil, Suresh Gokhale, Shyam Gaikwad of Jehangir Hospital, and senior RTO officials such as Anil Pantoji and Ashok Shinde.

“The training is not just about traffic laws, but about empathy, quick decision-making, and building trust with the public,” said Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, who personally delivered modules on traffic regulation and public behavior.

The training was supervised by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Amol Zende. It focused on building confidence among traffic police, improving how they work, and helping them connect better with citizens.

After completing the training, all officers and staff received certificates. The Pune Traffic Police Academy now plans to include more training on new technology and better ways to work with the public.

This effort shows that Pune Police are serious about improving traffic management and making the roads safer and more organized for everyone.
