Already troubled due to an alleged flight delay at Pune airport, SpiceJet flyers misbehaved with the ground staff of the airline over what they claimed was bad food. The airline has, however, refuted the allegations of the flyers and said the food served to passengers was fresh and of good quality, and the video is two weeks old.
"In the video, one can see flyers forcing the staff to eat the food from the box, saying, ‘Hum kutte hain? Ye janwaron ka khana tu kha!’ (Are we dogs to eat this food? You eat this animal food!)."
In a statement to HT, the airline said, "We strongly deny the claims being made in connection with the video in question, which is over two weeks old. The food served to passengers was fresh and of good quality. It was procured from an authorised vendor who supplies packaged food not only to SpiceJet but also to several other airlines operating at the airport, as well as to customers within the terminal."
The airline also said that the video is deeply unfortunate, and the behaviour displayed towards our staff is unacceptable and condemnable. They stand firmly behind their staff, as they kept their calm during the incident.
The viral video sparked strong reactions online, with many users criticizing the passengers for their behavior and questioning why ground staff should be harassed like this. While some acknowledged concerns about the food quality, they emphasized that the issue could have been handled respectfully.
