The Pophala village in Phulambri taluka in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district has become the first solar village in the Marathwada region. The village is sufficing the electricity needed by using solar energy. Endurance Technologies Ltd, with the aim to attain zero carbon emission and maximum use of non-conventional energy sources, has adopted this village through community social responsibility (CSR) funds.
Pophala is a unique village in Phulambri taluka with only 77 houses. It is situated 725 meters above sea level. Endurance has resolved to make this village electricity self-sufficient by using CSR funds. The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has assisted the company in this project and installed a 100 kV transformer separately for the entire village. Hence, the village could get 24 hours of uninterrupted electricity supply.
After the implementation of the project, the power pilferage was completely stopped. A 1 kV solar panel was installed on each house of the village through a grid supply system. The expense of Rs 51,000 for installing a solar panel for each house was borne by the company. The entire village was shifted to solar energy from April, said Endurance social project assistant manager Uday Dudhgaonkar. The company also accomplished the work of schools, water preservation, and forestation through the CSR funds.
Endurance will now adopt Mumbapurwadi in Khuldabad district for implementing the same project for the 2025-26 financial year through the CSR funds.
