Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) has initiated road widening drives and started marking of the roads in various parts of the city. The properties obstructing the widening are being demolished. However, the residents of Harsul have opposed the marking of the properties. They demanded that they should be given cash as compensation for their properties instead of TDR against the properties. They also threatened collective immolation if the properties are demolished without paying the compensation.
The residents questioned where they should go in the rainy season if their properties are demolished. They do not understand TDR and to which builder they should approach to sell it. The present 100 feet road is enough and why a 200 feet road is required, they questioned.
Meeting held on Wednesday
The residents of Harsul held a meeting on Wednesday and presented their woes. The CSMC and police officers were present.
Two days back, CP Praveen Pawar directed that a meeting should be held with the residents where the properties will be demolished. The police officers and the corporation officers should organise the meeting, he directed. Accordingly, ACP Sudarshan Patil, PI Dr. Sunita Misal, CSMC officer Sanjay Suradkar, ward officer Ashok Giri and others held a meeting at the Gajanan Maharaj temple in Harsul. The property owners and villagers of Harsul were present.
The residents presented their woes during the meeting. They mentioned that there is an ancient temple in the village, an old graveyard and the statue of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. The alternate lands should be granted for these monuments. The residents whose complete house is going in the market should be rehabilitated immediately. If the road is not going to be constructed soon, why is there a haste to demolish the properties? Instead, a flyover should be constructed here. The road at other places is 35 meters, then why is there a need for a 60 meters road in Harsul, they questioned.
The properties in Harsul were demolished around one and a half years back for the road widening. Now, the administration is acting without giving any compensation for the properties. The properties have the ownership rights and some even have the construction permissions. No one is speaking about the compensation. The residents are under panic due to marking and announcements through the loudspeakers, the residents alleged.
Residents Narendra Autade, Younus Patel, Balasaheb Autade, Sanjay Autade, Manoj Jadhav, Javed Patil, Santosh Rode, Ankush Autade, Sanjya Bhagure, Sandeep Bhagure, Suresh Autade and others were present.
